Hiring a magnificant one

Seen the movie, 'Magnificent Seven'? Yul Brynner, a gunslinger, tries to hire gunmen for a mission to help some farmers be rid of bandits.
In the movie, he has a very easy way to figure out if a person is quick, he asks the guy to catch his hand placed between the candidate's stretched out palms; last instant he moves his hand away and candidate just claps.

Wish it would be as easy to hire developers or writers.
